Ring Latch Equalizing Assembly

PURPOSE

Ring Latch PX / PR Equalizing Assembly is used to enhance the standard X or XN operations by giving positive prong retention mechanism. It offers safer snubbing operations because of the positive prong latching. They also used to plug off the wellbores.

OPERATION

Attach Housing and Housing Cap to appropriate lock mandrel and set in desired profile nipple using an X Running Tool. Dress prong with desired packing and install shear pin. Lower into wellbore using a jar down Pulling Tool (an SB is recommended), jar into housing attached to bottom of lock mandrel at desired depth, jar down until pin in SB/JDC is sheared and prong is set with the ring and latch in place. To remove, latch prong with desired pulling tool (always ensure pressure is equalized) jar up to shear the latch pin and prong comes free. Once the prong has been retrieved, a GS or GR may be used to retrieve the lock and housing.

PRECAUTIONS

Care should be taken to record wellbore pressure before plug is installed. This will aid in equalizing when retrieving operations commence.
